In addition, tuition at the elementary level includes two lead teachers in each classroom; field trips; technology (computers and Smart Boards); internet fees; visual arts and music fees; and third, fourth and fifth-grade standardized tests.

Additional costs
Additional costs that can be expected by a family include: application fee for child’s first entry; school supplies; math reference books for third, fourth and fifth grades; adult background checks; snack supplement (fresh fruit or vegetable for class on rotating basis); lunch (brought from home); optional spirit wear; optional extended programs and clubs; and gifts to the school’s fundraising initiatives (two major and optional minor cause-specific campaigns).

Tuition Payment Plans
As an independent school, Chance relies on tuition as its main source of revenue. Each year, the board of trustees sets tuition rates. Families can select from three tuition payment plans that range from annual to monthly.

Plan 1
Annual tuition balance (less the registration fee) paid in full by June 1. Tuition Refund Plan is optional.

Plan 2
60% of the annual tuition paid by June 1.
40% (less the registration fee) paid by December 1.
Tuition Refund Plan is required.

Plan 3
Nine monthly payments including a late fee, with the first payment due June 1.
Tuition Refund Plan is required.

Tuition Refund Plan
Chance School offers the Tuition Refund Plan as a means to insure your annual financial obligations. Parents who do not pay the total annual charges by June 1 must participate in the Tuition Refund Plan or present evidence of having secured comparable insurance coverage elsewhere. Fees vary depending on the amount of tuition for which a family is responsible. A brochure is provided with a student’s enrollment contract in the acceptance packet.

The signed enrollment contract is binding as of June 1, at which time families are liable for the school year’s entire tuition.

Financial Aid
Chance School offers partial financial aid to those families whose children have been accepted and have registered for a five-day program, and who can demonstrate need for financial assistance. A refundable registration fee is required to reserve your child’s spot in the program while applying for financial help.

The next step is for an applicant’s family to complete the necessary financial forms by March 15. Please refer to the Financial Aid Outline and access FAST Online to begin your aid application online. Contact the Director of Finance & Operations, Gerin Ballard at 502.425.6904 or gerin@chanceschool.org for assistance.

A decision will be made by May 1 for those meeting the March deadline of submitting the application and supporting documents to Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST). The Chance Financial Aid Committee reviews FAST’s financial analysis and recommendation before making its final decision. All financial aid inquiries and information submitted by families are kept confidential.

Due to limited funds, applications are only accepted from families with students registering for a five-day program. Priority is given to elementary students to achieve full enrollment, gender balance and diversity goals. Financial aid is granted on a year-by-year basis and all recipients must reapply each school year in order to be considered for financial assistance.
