Tuition & Financial Aid

Tuition & Financial Aid

For the 2013-2014 School Year, Chance is offering a new inclusive tuition structure. Whereas in the past, tuition included very few fees, supplies, and extra costs, the tuition for 2013-2014 includes all fees and “asks” except optional programs and our two major fund-raisers—Challenge for Chance and our Auction. That means you will not be spending additional monies for a Chance School education or to provide classroom supplies or fees. Chance School has incorporated as many extra fees as possible in the tuition amount so that families can accurately budget and plan for their child’s educational expense. A complete list of what tuition does and does not include is provided below and on the Tuition, Fees and Financial Aid Information Sheet distributed in Registration packets. Chance families may also choose their payment schedule, including the new 12 month option.

Tuition Refund Plan
Chance School offers the Tuition Refund Plan(Tuition Insurance) as a means to insure your annual financial obligations. Parents paying tuition in full have the option of participating in the Tuition Refund Plan; parents who do not pay the total annual charges by June 1 must participate in the Tuition Refund Plan or present evidence of having secured comparable insurance coverage elsewhere. Fees are listed with tuition as a percentage of the tuition amount for which families are responsible.  A brochure is provided in the registration/acceptance packet.

The signed enrollment contract is binding as of June 1, at which time families are liable for the school year’s entire tuition.

Financial Aid
A Chance School Education is valuable, and we desire to help provide that education to children who have been accepted at Chance School and can demonstrate need for financial assistance. Any Chance family who is unable to attend because of financial reasons is encouraged to apply. Chance School offers partial financial aid to those families whose children have been accepted in a five-day program, and priority is given at the elementary level to achieve full enrollment, gender balance and diversity goals.

After securing your child’s enrollment with payment of the $100 refundable registration fee, the next step is for an applicant’s family to complete the necessary financial forms by March 15. Please refer to the Financial Aid Outline and access FAST Online to begin your aid application online. Contact the Director of Finance & Operations, Gerin Ballard at 502.425.6904 or gerin@chanceschool.org for assistance.

A decision will be made by May 1 for those meeting the March deadline of submitting the application and supporting documents to Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST). The Chance Financial Aid Committee reviews FAST’s financial analysis and recommendation before making its final decision. All financial aid inquiries and information submitted by families are kept confidential.

Financial aid is granted on a year-by-year basis and all recipients must reapply each school year in order to be considered for financial assistance.
