Snack and Lunch

Snack and Lunch

Chance students enjoy a snack each day, served in classrooms. The school provides a protein, grain or dairy along with organic milk and water. Each child’s family is assigned snack on a rotational basis throughout the school year. On their designated dates, Chance families provide a fresh fruit or vegetable to compliment the school’s offering for their child’s class. Teachers give parents a list of appropriate snacks and note any food allergies or dietary restrictions of students in the classrooms. While refrigerators are available for storing food, snacks are to be ready-to-serve.

Each student staying for lunch – preschool and elementary — brings a nutritious meal from home to be eaten in the classroom. The school stresses the importance of healthy food choices so students can refuel for their afternoon of learning. The school has several kitchenettes with refrigerators and microwaves for storing and warming meals.
