Dear VCS Intermediate Families,

We are pleased to inform you about upcoming health education sessions that may be of interest to you. The goal of the sessions is to provide developmentally appropriate health education to our 4th and 5th grade students which will include puberty and physical development. 

The sessions will be led by VCS grandparent and local pediatrician, Dr. Pat Purcell. She has curated a list of resources which include the topics she will cover, and I have shared those resources below so that you may review them prior to the sessions. 

The format of the sessions will go as follows:
Tuesday, May 10, 11:45-12:45 Google Meet with parents to share topics and address questions.
Thursday, May 12, 3:15-4:15 Intro Session with students (Rm 14)
Wednesday, May 18, 3:15-4:15 Follow-Up Session with students (Rm 14)

The student sessions will be after school, so if you choose for your child not to attend, please let your teachers know, and we will have them proceed to carpool as they normally would. You may want to preview the resources below then attend the parent session before making your decision about having your child attend the sessions.

Should you have any questions, I invite you to attend the Google Meet (information below) on May 10 with Dr. Purcell, Sue Musson and me. These topics may be sensitive for some families. We hope that by providing this support you will feel more confident and comfortable supporting your child during this next developmental stage of life.
