Carrie holds a BA in English with a minor in Classics from the University of Arizona and earned a post-graduate elementary school teaching credential from Sacramento State University. With extensive experience in teaching preschool and elementary school, as well as tutoring, she brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her current role. She also leads a Girl Scout troop, demonstrating her commitment to fostering growth and development in young minds. Carrie is highly dedicated to Chance School's progressive education approach, which prioritizes an emergent curriculum and inquiry-based learning. She is particularly enthusiastic about the school's focus on empowering children to express their opinions, make choices, learn self-advocacy, and cultivate a stronger sense of self through inquiry-based learning. This aspect of the program is designed to activate a growth mindset and is immensely rewarding for the children.

At Chance School, the progressive education model is designed to challenge students academically while nurturing their innate curiosity and creativity. This rigorous approach encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills, preparing students for academic success and lifelong learning. By valuing each child as an individual, Mrs. Godlove creates a supportive environment where they are guided and challenged to become the best version of themselves. Carrie appreciates how this method empowers children to become confident, capable, and compassionate individuals, ready to contribute positively to society.

The benefit of nature-based learning, a cornerstone of Chance School's philosophy, should not be overstated. Carrie is passionate about integrating outdoor experiences into the curriculum, understanding that interaction with nature enhances a child's physical and cognitive development. Nature-based learning in first/second grade cultivates a sense of wonder and respect for the environment while facilitating a deeper understanding of the common core standards. This approach enriches the educational experience and instills in students a lifelong appreciation for the natural world. Carrie is thrilled to be an integral part of such a dynamic and forward-thinking educational community, where her daughters are thriving in 3rd grade, 1st grade, and the preschool program.

Originally from California, Carrie has lived in various places since leaving for college and has called Louisville home since June of 2022. Carrie enjoys indulging in good books, music, and movies and is always up for an adventure in the great outdoors. She is excited and honored to contribute to the positive and enriching environment at Chance School.
