Early Preschool Teacher

I received my master’s degree through East Tennessee State University. During my educational stay at ETSU, I was a part of a graduate assistantship program where I taught at the Child Study Center, Reggio inspired preschool on campus. I fell in love with the progressive approach that the environment is our third teacher. I have always used the environment as my first tool in my early childhood work. In the 14 years that I’ve been in early childhood education, I have been a Teacher, Professor, Director, Local area manager, and Quality Mentor for other teachers. I have also been a board member for “I’d Rather Be Reading,” an early intervention reading program, and a trauma-informed advocacy teacher. I have taught in Germany, Hawaii, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

I have chosen to be a teacher at a progressive school because I believe in attending to the whole child. As early childhood teachers, we have the opportunity to create great leaders and great people. People that care about the community, collaboration, and social justice. As your child’s teacher, I will connect with them to make them feel seen for who they are. I will guide them while watching them actively learn. I will foster them while they develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. I will take your child seriously, listen to what they say, and nourish their love for learning.

I’m thankful to be welcomed into such a beautiful school that will allow me to guide my students through a fantastic environmental educational experience. There is so much learning on this spectacular campus from exploring the woods, planting gardens, and caring for community pets, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it!

When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my twins, husband, and dogs. We love any body of water, but our most favorite place is Nolin Lake. The outdoors is a central piece of our lives, and I can’t wait to explore it even more with my students.
