Mat Folz
Director of Operations
I graduated from Elmhurst College with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Physics. Over the past twenty years, I've had a fulfilling career as a software engineer. I joined the South Oldham Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter in 2015. After seven years of volunteering, I transitioned to a full-time firefighter, where I oversee building maintenance with my platoon.
My wife and I attended college together, and after graduation, we moved to Colorado from a Chicago suburb. Following the birth of our first child, we relocated to Kentucky, where I grew up. As our children outgrew daycare, we sought a school to nurture their development positively. This search led us to Chance, where my oldest child started in the 3s and my youngest in the 2s; they are now in 5th and 3rd grade. We are so glad that we found Chance and have been able to keep our kids here through their early development.
When I'm not at the firehouse, I enjoy 3D modeling and printing, programming, repairing
my kids' broken toys, woodworking, biking, hunting, fishing, camping, and spending quality time with my family.
