First/Second Grade Teacher

After graduating from the University of Kentucky with a major in Psychology and Spanish, I spent a year and a half at Chance School. This experience sparked my passion for Teaching, leading me to move to Spain to pursue a Master's degree in Teaching. After completing my Master's, I combined my love of travel and Teaching by relocating to Australia, where I taught in the school system for four years.

During my teaching time in Australia and Spain, I had the opportunity to learn from different school systems and observe how these countries implemented a whole-child approach.

Returning to Chance School feels like coming home, especially because of its dedication to progressive education. This method emphasizes critical thinking, problem-solving, and active learning through hands-on activities. At Chance, students are engaged in a curriculum that is not only academically rigorous but also tailored to support their emotional and social development. The progressive education model fosters a love for lifelong learning, encouraging students to explore their interests deeply and develop a strong sense of self.

Additionally, Chance School integrates nature-based learning into its elementary program, which is incredibly beneficial. Engaging students with the natural world enhances their learning experiences by making abstract concepts tangible and fostering a sense of environmental stewardship. Outdoor activities and lessons in our beautiful, expansive campus allow children to explore, inquire, and connect with nature, thereby promoting physical health, mental well-being, and a lifelong appreciation for the environment. I am thrilled to be part of a school that understands the profound impact of combining progressive education with nature-based learning.
