Jamie Paradis
Director of Admissions
I graduated from Centre College with a BA in Sociology & Anthropology and later returned to my alma mater to work in institutional advancement, furthering my interest in education. I then worked for six years at Actors Theatre of Louisville, where I met my future husband Al and indulged a love of the arts. I worked at Actors until my first child was born, then stayed home as a caregiver until my youngest was three. Having been an active volunteer at Chance School for a few years, I was thrilled when the opportunity arose to work at our beautiful school home.
As Director of Admissions, I have the privilege of helping families discover and realize their deepest hopes and dreams for their children’s education. I am honored to be included in those conversations and grateful for the opportunity to share my passion for progressive education. I get to witness and showcase big and small moments of growth, affection, and learning in classrooms at every age level daily. I love spending my days in a creative, collaborative, and compassionate environment where children are respected and considered capable.
With a deep dedication to nurturing young minds, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of progressive education through my two children, who are proud Virginia Chance School graduates. Our rigorous curriculum is thoughtfully designed to challenge students intellectually while supporting their individual growth, and I have seen both through my experiences at Chance School with my children.
Outside of school, I strive to give back to my community. I have been involved with the Kentucky Governor’s Scholars Program and StageOne Family Theatre and enjoy ongoing involvement with Actors Theatre, the Speed Museum, and Family and Children’s Place.
In my free time, I immerse myself in great stories of all kinds; books, television, movies, and plays. I am an avid listener of music and podcasts, and I especially love a good concert. I unwind by solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles. I love to travel with my family. We have explored playgrounds, libraries, and pastries all over the world and have a long list of places we hope to visit. Best of all, I end nearly every day reading with my children.
